This is my first quilt & an intergenerational collaboration with my paternal great-grandmother, Kathleen Cawthorne. When I found a stack of Dresden Plates that she had started but never finished, tucked away in a drawer, it became clear that bringing these pieces to life was a means to deep ancestral connection. It was a portal to travel through time–reaching one hand back through the generations to renew her legacy of this practice & the other hand into the future by creating my own.
