This quilt is dedicated to the memory of my late grandfather, Dr. Steven Alexander. It’s a celebration of who he was and the legacy he left–a balance of structure and freedom, pattern and play, pragmatism and joy. My grandfather was a notorious clotheshorse, so this piece is made entirely from his collection of beautiful and colorful collared shirts. Working with his clothing was a way to access the evolving grief of his absence in the second year after his passing. One star for each year of his life.
